May Beauty Favorites: Part I

fmkMay was a great month of beauty discoveries. I finally found my favorite foundation/powder combo, which is pretty much like winning the lottery! Since I have extremely oily skin, I need a foundation to keep me matte and provide me with great coverage that lasts all day, but still looks natural and won’t clog up pores. Not too much to ask for right? Well, I’ve been using Clinque’s Liquid Makeup and I think this will likely me my go-to from now on, it’s so light, keeps me looking matte and the finish is phenomenal. Below are my other favorites!

Face:

  • Clinique Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup – I’m in the shade Golden Neutral, and if you’re an oily girl, give this a go. I highly recommend it! Perfect foundation for the summer.
  • Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder – This combined with my foundation is magic. It gives my face this lovely finish. I use it very lightly to set my foundation and stays all day long. If I’m running late, I sometimes just use my concealer and this powder and it provides me with the right amount of coverage for the day. It’s a little pricy, but worth it.
  • MAC Pro-Long Wear Concealer – This will always be on the list, it can’t be beat when it comes to concealing anything.
  • Tarte Poreless Primer – This made my list last month as well, it’s a great primer but I’m ready to try something new, if any one has any reos let me know!
  • Hourglass Ambient Light Powder in Dim Light – When I first got this powder I didn’t really see what the big fuss was about, but with a few trails, I’m now a fan. I like to sweep it over my cheeks after I add blush, down my nose and other areas I want to highlight and it provides a pretty subtle glow.
  • Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in Medium/Deep – It was a fave last month and I still haven’t found something better I like just yet.
  • MAC Blush in Melba – I adore this shade. One of my pet-peeves is blush that’s overdone, I like very subtle/natural looking blush and melba is that shade for me. I think it would compliment any skin-tone.
  • Skindinavia Makeup Spray – Setting my makeup is usually something I like to do during the summer months when I want my makeup to stay on all day. Skindinavia is every makeup junkies go-to, it provides great coverage without a weird odor.

Eyes:

  • Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Shadow Primer – This little primer does a great job at keeping my eyeshadows in place. I had heard great reviews, so I knew I had to give it a try, so far so good.
  • Too Faced A La Mode Eye Shadow Palette – Since I’ve been loving orange everything, as soon as I saw the orangey-pinky shades in this, I was sold. They’re so simple to blend, I’ve been wearing them every single day!
  • Starlooks Eye Pencil in Obsidian – This velvety eye pencil is so smooth and so simple to use. I almost like it a little better than the Urban Decay pencils. If you haven’t tried this brand, I’d recommend it.
  • Maybelline Pumped UP! Mascara – I love trying new mascaras, so far this one provides me with great lashes, with a few strokes, I’m set. {One tip, don’t dip your brush more than once, if you want the falsies affect, keep brushing your lashes without dipping. It makes a difference as dipping and coating your lashes can weigh them down.}
  • Loreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara – I love using this mascara on my bottom lashes, since it’s a small brush, it’s a able to coat smaller lash hairs.
  • Revlon Brow Fantasy – This pencil is so easy to work with and I love the fact that it also comes with a gel to set your eyebrows with. So inexpensive and so useful.

What have you been loving this month? Come back Wednesday when I’ll be sharing my favorite lip shades for the month!
